In April 2023, the travel channel sonnenklar.TV awarded the deep-sea ship VASCO DA GAMA the "Golden Sun", a prize for special tourism merits. The classically elegant ship was awarded in the category "Ship of the Year". In its citation, sonnenklar.TV referred in particular to the great popularity of the ship and the many recurring bookings.

Focus Money and ServiceValue GmbH award nicko cruises in the study "Company of the Year", which was conducted on behalf of DEUTSCHLAND TEST. With this award, the seal honours companies that have performed particularly well in the previous evaluations "Prize Winner", "Highest Trust", "Customer Favourites" and "Germany's Best - Sustainability". nicko cruises receives this award for the second time in a row and is considered "Company of the Year 2023" in the category Ship Lines and Tourism.

Print&Forest is an innovative climate protection project for climate-neutral printed materials. Together with its print shop, nicko cruises tries to reduce CO2 emissions for print materials to a maximum. In line with the motto "We protect what we value," nicko cruises is taking responsibility and printing its catalogs in a climate-neutral way. To this end, the cruise expert offsets the CO2 emissions generated for catalog production and plants 276 trees in Paraguay for the River Cruises 2023 catalog.

Each year, a jury of cruise experts honors the best ships at the Kreuzfahrt Guide Awards (engl.: Cruise Guide Awards). Awards are presented in seven categories, including sports and wellness offerings, information and entertainment, gastronomy, service and routing. In 2018, the nickoVISION was named "Best River Ship of the Year".

Since 2015, the cruise initiative has presented the Fairplay Award annually in four categories: Innovation, Groups, Support & Conditions and Reliability. The industry-recognised award evaluates the cooperation between cruise, distribution and shipping company. As the name of the award suggests, fair and open cooperation is an essential criteria in all four categories. nicko cruises was awarded in the category "Innovation" in 2019.
