Join us on a guided tour of the baroque old town of Passau, the starting point of your Danube journey. Learn interesting details while strolling through the winding streets and soak up the special atmosphere of this city. After the tour, take the bus to the Veste Oberhaus, which towers above the Danube on the opposite side of the river. From here you have a fantastic panoramic view of the Three Rivers City.

St. Florian Abbey with organ concert

Anton Bruckner was closely connected with the monastery throughout his life. He began his musical career as a Florian choirboy and later remained loyal to the monastery, spending much time there. After his death, he was buried at his own request in the crypt of the monastery basilica, directly under the great organ. During a guided tour of the impressive Augustinian Canons' Monastery of St. Florian, you will see, among other things, the Bruckner Memorial Room and the crypt with Anton Bruckner's sarcophagus. The musical highlight is a concert on the "Bruckner organ" in the beautiful monastery basilica.

City tour Linz

The city of Linz, first mentioned in a document in 799, owes an early economic boom as an important trading center to its location on the Danube. This shaped the appearance and culture of the city. When strolling through the alleys of the spacious old town, it is worth taking a look at the magnificent inner courtyards. Proud town houses tell of times gone by. In contrast, there is the spacious, baroque main square with the imposing Holy Trinity Column. In 2009, the city was even named European Capital of Culture.

Beethoven Museum and Mozart House with concert

Walk in the footsteps of the famous composers Johann Strauss and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart on this excursion. First you will visit the Johann Strauss apartment, which the musician lived in between 1863 and 1870. This is also where he wrote his most famous waltz "On the Beautiful Blue Danube". The exhibition shows original furniture and instruments as well as portraits, photographs and documents, which give you an understanding of his life and work. Afterwards you will go to the Mozart House. The centerpiece here is the Mozart apartment, where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart lived with his family from 1784 to 1787. Here he composed, among other things, his famous opera "Le Nozze di Figaro". The crowning finale is an exclusive concert with the most famous works of the musical genius.

Today the tradition-rich Danube metropolis Vienna is on the program. From the pier you will pass the "New Vienna" with the Uno-City and the Danube Island. See imposing magnificent buildings such as the State Opera, the Burgtheater, the Hofburg, the Parliament, the City Hall and the Votivkirche during the trip along the famous Ringstrasse. During a guided tour afterwards, you will experience this charming city and its world-famous "Viennese Schmäh" at first hand. After a short free time, you will pass the Praterstern and return to your ship.

Heurigen excursion

In Vienna, cozyness is still capitalized, so it is not said for nothing: Who comes to Vienna, must plan time. Experience it yourself during a typical Heurigen evening in Vienna. By bus you will go to a famous Heurigen place, where you will spend the evening in a cozy atmosphere in a typical Heurigen. "Heurigen" refers to both the rustic taverns and the young wine. The Heurigen musicians will provide the right atmosphere. The price of the excursion also includes a drink.

The Prater is a large amusement park in the second district and officially bears the name Wurstelprater. Equally popular with Viennese and tourists is its landmark: the Ferris wheel. It attracts visitors with a great view of the city. Enjoy the ride and look forward to the magical panorama of the metropolis on the Danube.

Budapest is certainly one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and bears the nickname "Queen of the Danube" not without reason. The Danube divides the Hungarian metropolis into the districts of Buda and Pest. You will first drive through the city center and enjoy the flair of the city. Enjoy a beautiful view of the Buda Castle, Fishermen's Bastion and Matthias Church, which still remind of the glory of past times. Also a small visit to the famous Budapest market hall may not be missing, of course.

Budapest by night with folklore

Experience the impressive performance of a Hungarian folklore group with their spirited music and colorful traditional costumes at this evening event typical of the country. You will be served a typical Hungarian goulash soup and Hungarian wine. Afterwards you will drive back to the ship through the nocturnal Budapest, past the brightly lit magnificent buildings, such as the Parliament, Fishermen's Bastion, Matthias Church, Buda Castle, the Chain Bridge and the Gellert Hill.

Brunsvik Castle with Beethoven Museum and concert

Ludwig van Beethoven had a deep friendship with the Brunsvik family. He spent several summers in the castle of the same name, where he composed, among other things, the sonata "Appassionata". Today, the Beethoven Museum commemorates this time. Here you can admire, among other things, the grand piano on which the great composer once made music. But the castle itself is also worth seeing. Built in the 18th century in the Baroque style, elements in the style of English Tudor Gothic were later added and remodeled. The impressive parkland in the style of an English garden is a real feast for the eyes. A small chamber music concert will round off this special excursion.

Bratislava

Bratislava is located in the fertile Danube plain south of the Small Carpathians in the immediate vicinity of the borders with Austria and Hungary. The Slovakian capital could be aptly described as "small but nice". The old town has been splendidly renovated with great attention to detail. The theme tour is all about music. Music greats such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Anton Rubinstein, Joseph Haydn and Ludwig van Beethoven lived and worked in Bratislava for a time. The composer Johann Nepomuk Hummel was born here in 1778. The tour ends with a concert in the Franciscan Church, the oldest preserved church in Bratislava.

Tour of Melk Abbey

The baroque Benedictine Abbey of Melk towers impressively above the town at the entrance to the Danube in the Wachau region. Melk has been a spiritual and cultural center of the country for more than 1,000 years. The monastery has become literarily known, among other things, through Umberto Eco's novel "The Name of the Rose". The imposing baroque building is a visible expression of the importance of the monastery in the baroque period. A guided tour through the monastery will impressively convey the former importance of the monastery. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to explore the grounds yourself before the bus picks you up again and takes you back to the ship.
