Myanmar's lifeline

The Irrawaddy has its source on the edge of the Himalayan Mountains; it flows across Myanmar and divides the country into east and west. The river is a lifeline for peasants and fishermen. On its journey to the Andaman Sea on the edge of the Indian Ocean, the river passes numerous sights, such as the city of Yangon, emblem of the country, the historic royal city of Bagan with its impressive pagodas, and Mandalay, the religious centre of Myanmar. This country was practically made to be discovered from the water! And the river itself offers its own sights: With a bit of luck, you will catch a glimpse of the famous Irrawaddy dolphins!
