Elbe, Vltava & Havel
Beautiful countryside, historic cities
One of the highlights along the course of the Elbe is without doubt the Baroque city Dresden. The bizarre rock formations of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains inspired Caspar David Friedrich to create some of the most significant works of the Romantic period. Downstream, historical towns such as Wittenberg and architectural highlights such as Magdeburg cathedral await travellers. Just as glittering are the banks of the Elbe and the Vltava in the Czech Republic. As well as the breathtaking natural landscape of the Bohemian gate and historical towns and villages, a visit to the "Golden City" of Prague is particularly popular.
