Today’s programme includes the famous Stubbenkammer Chalk Cliffs in the Jasmund National Park to the north of the island. Germany’s smallest national park, covering just 3,003 hectares, has been in existence since 1990. The famous “Königsstuhl” (“King’s Seat”), an approx. 118 metre-high section of the Chalk Cliffs that juts out, is the highest point of the chalk coast. Already by the 19th century, the impressive countryside was the inspiration for numerous painters and poets, including the well-known landscape painter Caspar David Friedrich. He immortalised the impressive scenery in his famous painting “Chalk Cliffs on Rügen”. During the excursion, you’ll see a multi-media presentation in the national park’s visitor centre.

Potsdam
Mooring 2:00 pm City tour of Potsdam with a visit to Sanssouci Park. Time afterwards to make your own discoveries. Excursion Package

If you hear the name Potsdam, you are bound to think immediately of Sanssouci Palace. However, the city has much more to offer than just the former summer residence of Friedrich the Great. The Russian colony Alexandrowka, the Dutch quarter and the former bohemian Weavers’ quarter, are all historical city quarters that contribute to the special charm of Potsdam. On the way through the historical city centre with its wonderfully restored buildings, you’ll go past the Dutch quarter with its delightful gabled houses, the Russian colony Alexandrowka and find out how important the Glienicke Bridge is. Afterwards, a tour through the park at Cecilienhof Palace awaits. You’ll then continue on to the imposing summer palace Sanssouci. Frederick the Great had this palace built as a haven of tranquillity where he could spend his time carefree (“sans souci”) and devote himself to art, music and culture, away from the hectic hustle and bustle of Berlin. Come with us on a guided walk through the estate’s impressive park before going to the ship/Berlin Central Station.

Explore the world – safely!

For us, the safety of the guests and crew on board our ships always comes first – especially in these current times. In 2020, we proved that our safety and hygiene practices work when we were the first cruise operator worldwide to get our ships going again in June. Our proven measures meet national and international health standards. We have summarised the key facts for you in our 10-point plan.

For our ocean cruises we will introduce the so called 2G regulation, which stands for „Geimpfte and Genesene“ and means vaccinated and recovered persons on October 27, 2021 on VASCO DA GAMA and for WORLD VOYAGER from October 29, 2021. On our river trips, the 2G regulation applies with the start of the winter season from November 29th, 2021.

This means that on our cruises from the dates mentioned, only fully vaccinated or recovered guests travel in accordance with the 2G rule. Children under the age of 12 are exempt from the 2G regulation. They must present a negative PCR test, which must not be older than 72 hours at the time of entry.

This year, we are again pursuing our passion to offer you unforgettable holiday experiences, showing you the most beautiful spots on the river and along European coasts. Come on board!
