We drive through Potsdam’s historic city centre with its finely restored buildings, past the Dutch Quarter with its attractive gables. On our way to Cecilienhof Palace we pass the Glienicke Bridge, which played an important role in the Cold War. We take a stroll through the palace park before going on to the Summer Palace of Sanssouci. Fredrick The Great had this palace built in order to escape the hustle and bustle of the capital, to live without cares (sans souci) and to immerse himself in art, music and philosophy. We have a guided walk in the beautiful park before transferring to the ship.

Prague is known as the „Golden City“. You first drive to the Castle (Hradschin). It was built in the 9th Century and, apart from a few short interruptions, it has been the political centre of both Prague and Bohemia. A series of kings and emperors have been responsible for its development. A guided walk through the city centre then takes you along the river bank to Charles’ Bridge, which dates back to the 14th Century. The original Gothic structure was later decorated with Baroque trappings and transformed into an architectural masterpiece. Arrival and departure times are target times. The Elbe is not regulated by locks in Germany. It therefore offers a natural shoreline landscape that is unique in Europe, but is also more susceptible to high or low water than other rivers. Vlatava, in particular, is not passable at low water levels. We reserve the right, therefore, to make short-term changes to the programme (itineraries, excursions) in case of difficult water levels. If a route cannot be travelled due to low/high tides or a boat defect, the shipping company reserves the right to take passengers by bus to the excursion destinations, to accommodate them in hotels and/or change the route; it may also, however, be necessary to change to another vessel.
