Trier / Riol
Mooring 1:30 pm Casting off 6:00 pm Guided tour of Trier, the oldest city in Germany, with the famous Porta Nigra and the imposing cathedral. Excursion Package

Established in 17 BC by the Romans under the rule of Kaiser Augustus, Trier is one of the oldest cities in Germany and has a rich past. As a city in the Roman empire, Trier experienced a period of cultural prosperity and was home to several Roman emperors. Culturally, you could describe Trier as an open-air museum of European architecture. Come with us on a journey through time from ancient times, the Roman and Gothic period to the Renaissance, Baroque and Classicism periods. During a short sightseeing tour, you’ll see testimonies to Trier’s Roman past, for example the Barbarathermen and the Amphitheater. The Petrisberg has a fantastic vantage point to admire them from. The subsequent tour leads you past the bishop’s palace, the palace gardens and the Basilica of Constantine and, of course, the city’s landmark – the 2,000 year-old monument of Roman architecture, the “Porta Nigra”.

Mainz
Mooring 4:45 pm Mainz city tour with the magnificent St. Augustine’s Church and a visit to the grand Mainz Saint Martin Cathedral. Excursion Package

The city of Mainz can look back on a long history with impressive buildings, monuments and museums. Today’s old town with its winding streets and lanes around Augustinerstraße, the city’s main shopping street until the 17th century, is clearly reminiscent of the medieval and early modern cityscape. The magnificent Baroque façade of St. Augustine's church, which survived the war unscathed, is integrated into the front of the houses towering above them. Magnificent Baroque buildings, aristocratic residences and the “Heunensäule” in the marketplace are contemporary witnesses of the electoral epochs. Your tour will also take you to the mighty Mainz St. Martin’s Cathedral. Familiarise yourself with the era and the many different faces of Mainz on this sightseeing tour.

Heidelberg
Mooring 12:45 pm Guided tour of Heidelberg through the picturesque old town with a visit to the famous castle, the city’s landmark. Time to make your own discoveries.

Its famous castle and picturesque old town, embedded into the wonderful countryside, is what makes Heidelberg so popular among visitors. On a guided walk through the lanes of Heidelberg, you can be inspired by the special charm of this city and its beautiful churches of the Electoral Palatinate, the old town squares and old bridges. A highlight of your stay is, of course, a visit to the castle complex. Unfortunately, however, you can now only admire the ruins of the former residence. The landmark of the city is situated about 70 metres up over the Neckar on the slopes of the “Königstuhl”. The castle inspired poets and artists from the Romantic period to create some amazing works.
