Osijek
Mooring 7:30 am Casting off 6:30 pm city tour of Osijek Excursion Package

The Croatian city Osijek, located at the river Drava, had its golden age around the turn of the century. The influence of the Habsburg or the western European architects is pervasive: like at the romantic castles of the Roman Catholic church of St. Peter and St. Paul the Apostle or at the pastel-coloured houses with stucco decorations and lean towers in the centre of Osijek. It doesn’t go without notice that the city has been recovered faster than the suburbs from the destruction of war. That fact is contributing to the outstanding flair of Osijek, which you’ll experience through the comfortable bus and walking tour through the wonderful historic city and castle district.

Kopački rit Natural Park

Approx. a 1-hour bus ride from our pier in the area between Danube and Drava lies the Kopacki rit Nature Park, one of the largest and best-preserved wetlands in Europe. The canals and lakes, which are covered with reeds and whose surface is covered with white water lilies, are mostly surrounded by white willow trees. These give numerous freshwater fish (carp, pike, perch), reptiles (fire salamander, pond turtle) and bird species (cormorants, storks) a home. Probably the most famous inhabitant is Europe's largest eagle: the white-tailed eagle. Experience the untouched nature on a boat trip and if you are lucky, you will also see some of the wildlife there. Kindly note that we cannot guarantee that the animal world will show itself in all its splendor. Afterwards you will visit the nearby Rural House, where you will learn more about the area, its tradition and culture in an interesting and humorous presentation. Tasting local products such as Ajvar and slivovitz is included as much as finding out what lies behind the fearsome "Busho" mask before going back to the ship.
