The Saarland is characterized by its untouched landscape and the numerous cultural-historical evidence. It has the flair of a country with two state borders as, in the last 200 years, the Saarland has exchanged its nationality between Germany and France eight times. Thus, it has become a melting pot of cultures. After a drive through the valley of the Saar we reach the viewpoint Cloef. From here you have an impressive view of the Saar loop. Afterwards we continue to the Mettlach where you will visit the impressive ceramic exhibition at the headquarters of the well-known porcelain manufacturer Villeroy & Boch. Here not only lordly dishes, but also utensils, bathrooms and tiles (as used for example on the Titanic) are shown.

Cochem
Mooring 1:30 pm Panoramic trip through the volcanic Eifel

Join us on a trip through the impressive volcanic Eifel in the Rhineland-Palatinate mountains. In Cochem begins your panoramic trip to Ulmen. After a short walk you reach the ruins Ulmen, from which you have a magnificent view of the Ulmener Maar, Germany's youngest volcano. Continue to the famous Gillenfelder Maaren, which consist of the Daunermaar and Holzmaar. Admire the overwhelming landscape with its funnel-shaped pits, where volcanoes still smoked until 10,000 years ago. In the midst of this unspoilt area lies the goat cheese dairy farm Vulkanhof. How do you make goat cheese and how much milk do you need? These and other questions will be answered in an interesting tour of the location. Of course, you can also try a selection of hand-made specialties from the goat. Our next stop is the famous "lava bomb" at the volcano house in Strohn, a truly impressive testimony to earlier volcanic activity in the Eifel. With a diameter of 5 meters, the almost 120-ton basalt ball is a geological feature. Find out all about the background of their long-disputed formation before returning to Cochem.
