We drive through Potsdam’s historic city centre with its finely restored buildings, past the Dutch Quarter with its attractive gables. On our way to Cecilienhof Palace we pass the Glienicke Bridge, which played an important role in the Cold War. We take a stroll through the palace park before going on to the Summer Palace of Sanssouci. Fredrick The Great had this palace built in order to escape the hustle and bustle of the capital, to live without cares (sans souci) and to immerse himself in art, music and philosophy. We have a guided walk in the beautiful park before transferring to the ship.

The north western part of the island of Wolin has been declared a National Park on account of its unique flora and fauna. You will visit the seaside resort of Misdroy with its traditional architecture. The town was, until the middle of the 19th Century, a small fishing port, before it was transformed into a health resort after the discovery of salt springs. Today the resort – with its sandy beach and its fine late 19th Century houses – is again a very popular destination. In Kamien Pomorski we’ll have a little walk through parts of the lovely place, and finally an organ concert in the Kamien cathedral gives a look back into the great history of this wonderful area.

The delightful island landscape with its long, sandy beaches, forests and small lakes has made Usedom a very attractive holiday destination right from the 19th Century. The towns of Ahlbeck, Heringsdorf and Bansin emerged as popular resorts, visited by the aristocracy and by influential citizens. This traditional ambience is still in evidence today. We invite you to trace the footsteps of Thomas Mann, of Gorky and Tolstoy, passing the impressive architecture of the late 19th Century villas. The pier in Ahlbeck with its turrets is a magnificent sight.
